Lake Greeson, Cabin C-4, It's Dynamite!

If I said one more time "Cabin C-4, It's Dynamite!" I may have gotten voted out of my cabin at Self Creek on Lake Greeson this Memorial Day weekend. I don't even know if C-4 is actually dynamite, but "Cabin C-4, It's Explosive!" Just didn't have the same connotation, so I went with dynamite.

And if you were expecting some amazing vacation pictures, think again. I'm the type of loser who packs a camera and never actually unpacks it to take any pictures. Even Ty told me yesterday that my pictures weren't very good. Actually, he told me that another blog had better pictures, and I interpreted that to mean mine weren't very good. They do look like crap, who am I kidding. Adding to my to do list:
  1. Get a better camera.
  2. Use better camera once gotten.
With that being said, I came home from our trip with literally two pictures, none with people in them. The one of our cabin (above) and this one of The Pancake Shop in Hot Springs. This place is amazeballs.

Ty and I went to Hot Springs on Thursday after work. We got in late and met a friend for drinks. But I had my eye on the prize. I wasn't there to socialize. I was there for blueberry pancakes the next morning. Hands down, the best blueberry pancakes I've ever eaten. I will plan a trip according to these pancakes, which we sort of did.

These are the banana pancakes, but even if you like your pancakes fruitless, this place has enough character to steal your beating heart. The Pancake Shop has been in business for about 70 years and little has changed. Its charm is undeniable, garnering national attention from the Chicago Tribune, Southern Living and the New York Times. With homemade apple butter and signature coffee, I wanted the works ... eggs, toast, whatever else is on the menu! I refrained since we were eating with company. Not the best first impression when you meet someone's wife and she plows through breakfast like a thoroughbred.

Friday morning after breakfast, we did some running around in Hot Springs and headed out to meet our group at Lake Greeson. We spent the next few days with Chris and Ashley (my brother and sister-in-law), Jill and John (Ashley's sister and brother-in-law) and some new friends Brice and Michelle (Jill and John's longtime friends). It was such a great weekend on the water.

We spent our mornings sleeping in, drinking coffee on the back porch, our days chilling on the lake and our nights eating delicious dinners and relaxing in the hot tub.

It made it difficult to come home Monday.

And somewhat arduous to sleep Monday night because I kept waking myself vigorously swatting away spiders in my sleep. Damn nature!

And nearly impossible to come back to work Tuesday.

And even though I didn't come home with many photos, I didn't come home from Lake Greeson completely without a souvenir.

I had the pleasure of bringing back arms and legs covered in poison ivy. I knew  eventually bad things would happen if Ty and I continued to karaoke this song together. We've been tempting fate. So, after a trip to Velocity Care, these words have never been more true:

Measles make you bumpy
And mumps'll make you lumpy
And chicken pox'll make you jump and twitch
A common cold'll fool ya
And whooping cough can cool ya
But poison ivy, Lord'll make you itch!!

I'm most definitely going to need that ocean of calamine lotion.

Now, who wants those pancakes?

Sorry ... nothing like a rash to wipe out a healthy appetite.

I can honestly say, you left out so many quoteables from this weekend, it kind of makes me sad.. especially since.. "i've been chillin down the dirt road, swervin like George Jones". But, I can honestly say, I'm glad you never broke out that camera, I just don't know if the Blogosphere could handle the awesomeness.. espcially the "lions mane" of hair I was sporting... It was a great weekend!!

also, thanks to you and Ty, for introdcuing me to the awesomeness that is.. Jean Eric... LOVE!

Well, most of those quotables probably wouldn't translate unless everyone had been there, so I figured it was best to leave it between all of us.

And a lion's mane was posted here just last week and the backlash was bearable!

We do love some Jean Eric!

Meryl, I think this is what originally made us such good friends all those years ago. We're two women who know that you go fancy, or you go home!
